You Can't Un-Eat

Posted by Bob Bruno on Saturday, September 26, 2015, In : History

Perhaps Akhnaton-Moses, a historical evidence , will take credence as the reality of Tut being Akh's son became accepted as Gospel by the stodgy Egyptologist through something like the way Osmosis works in plants . Oedipus seems more likely to be understood and sooner accepted than the uprooting of Moses from his pedastal. Osman was brilliant at times , then "Out of Egypt " ..and oblivion. Villikovsky's "Akhnaton and Oedipus " was brilliant but "Worlds in Collision" has often been attacked wh...

Betrayal

Posted by Bob Bruno on Saturday, September 26, 2015, In : Politics and Religion
The next symbolic act will be to outlaw the American Flag. How far behind this betrayal of half the American men killed in the Civil War is the American Flag for all the things it represents from the point of view of so many who would betray us in the name of being politically correct. History can't be denied but it can be hidden. The repression of history results in psychological problems for entire generations.

King Tut and all the Amarna Kings were deleted form the egyptian list of Ki...

Justifiable Homicide

Posted by Bob Bruno on Thursday, August 1, 2013,

You will find a repaired photo of Mhai Scott in my adjusted now called "Justifiable Homicide".composite .Justifiable homicide is what they called the action of the Virginia police who killed a little Chinese woman ,Mhai Scott who had a knife. You have to wonder exactly what kind of training it takes to shoot someone with a knife. I mean a bat might have been a better decision than a bullet. It seems to me that a long broom might be an antidote to a knife , that is the stick could keep a small ...

1St Amendment Still Up for Grabs

Posted by Bob Bruno on Wednesday, August 29, 2012,

The1st Amendment is a problem to corporate greed so watch out for those that would stifle voices, for instance Ron Paul, the only Republican candidate who has stood against starting another war ,at his own party's nomination event.

The illegal arrest of the 26 year old former Marine in Virginia who posted remarks on Facebook is another terrible example of the abuse of the 1st Amendment right to free speech. He was set free as there were no legitimate charges there. The question remai...

Little Gigs

Posted by Bob Bruno on Monday, January 30, 2012,

When I see the advertizements for individual gigs from other musician friends on Facebook it only reminds me that we are in a much different era. Professional musicians are papering the house instead of going from town to town entertaining the locals.Yea , yea , there are the shows , those venues of indifferent bigness but that is another illusion that really doesn't support many people for very long.Musicians were traveling across this country long before I ever went to work. Showing Our Colors

Posted by Bob Bruno on Saturday, December 3, 2011,

I was just tired of looking  up the skirt of "Liberty".The indignity of our current governmental failures is not funny at all . The systemic problems may be too far gone to repair, especially as we continue to wave the flag and salute it as if a metaphor has anything to do with current issues at all.If the flag fails ,maybe some sabre rattling will suffice or introduce an innocuous "Bill" that will go nowhere but get some sound bites on TV for our phony representatives. The Senate member...

Rhetorical Polical Humor or Liberty Burning

Posted by Bob Bruno on Saturday, November 19, 2011, In : Politics and Religion

Characterizations are entertaining ,rhetorical fantasies but not realities.Lenin and Stalin were Marxist,Benito Mussolini was a Socialist. The Obama administration is not either of these things.Campaign rhetoric is expensive advertizing paid for by corporate interest and repeated by those swayed by the propaganda. This includes the delegates elected by the citizens of this country as well as the people who are accosted by expensive television ads. What individual citizen can afford to buy televi...

Two Akhs,Becketaten,Jesus,Bob,and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

Posted by Bob Bruno on Friday, November 4, 2011, In : Politics and Religion

My response on a Facebook status became so involved that I decided I had better keep it in my notes.I am not sure how cohesive these two entrees are but the subjects became related.I once dissagreed with an author(Robert Feather)I met and wrote back and forth with in a Yahoo Group who had written an entire book about a relationship between Akhnaton and the Essenes .I still do not believe there is an actual tie between the two yet my own writing here brought them together in a way.Mono...

This is my current desk top. I do change them often.I can't imagine how people can get tattoos that are not changeable ,immovable things. My other sites feature slides of my painting composites, which tend to change and grow.Maintaining sites that have slides and music is an ongoing project . I feel that the image and presentation on line is the art . There is no more . I made them with this presentation in mind .More recent sites are meant to be viewed in full screen. The Wind

Posted by Bob Bruno on Wednesday, December 8, 2010,

Peggyann , an on line friend on Facebook ,wrote "I hate the wind" in response to current ,early December weather conditions. There was a response from one of her friends of "Boo for the wind" and both of these phrases caught my eye.Perhaps I haven't really seen this kind of phrase too often but I have been panned in the past, the criticisms stinging me at times.. haha. Some people aren't aware of my past associations or ancient history that is not associated with Akhnaton, the 18th Dynas...

Terrorist and Ye Olde Mafia Protection Racket

Posted by Bob Bruno on Monday, November 29, 2010,

Have you noticed that it seems like there have been public busts of late of would be terrorist that wouldn't have had a clue if not for the entrapment , the stings that were set up ? The public statement afterword is that the US Government is sending a message to would be terrorist that if you try to bomb us we will get you. Sending messages is frivolous and like Emailing , there isn't always an answer .Generally , it seems like all the terrorist are consorting with the FBI . It makes me wond...

Messiah, the translation of the Old Testament Hebrew word pronounced maw-shakh ,meaning Anointed One , which when translated into the New Testament Greek is Christos.

The Egyptians saw the king as divine and as early as the Fourth Dynasty (27th century BC) the king was looked upon as the Son of Ra .The king was anointed ,not with oil but with the fat of the holy crocodile. This ancient Egyptian word for crocodile was MeSeH or msh ,as there were no vowels in ancient Egyptian or Hebrew. This wor...

Akh In Hell Continued

Posted by Bob Bruno on Thursday, November 18, 2010,

There was a hell in ancient Egypt , too , way , way back as far as 8 to ten thousand years BC. We really see their gods as myths now but the main characters (gods) ,Isis, Osiris, and Set were an epic Greek myth-tragedy before there were Greek myths. Osiris was married to Isis and his brother,Set,was jealous.Set seems almost like a character out of an old time movie western with the guy twiddling his mustash and putting the heroine on the railroad track. Set attempted to kill Os...

"Akh in the Hell" ,Excerpts from My Comments on Intolerance

Pt 1

Intolerance seems to be built into the first commandment which is a trait of monotheistic religions that followed since Akhnaton ,( the father of Tut),decreed the very same commandment "Thou shalt have no other god before me,"except he substituted the "Aten" in place of all the other gods in the temples of Egypt. He enforced his theocratic monotheism under the threat of death with the might of the Egyptian army of his era.His preoccupation developing a cult that allowed him to do w...

Characters

I don't know why I thought of Danny Gatton this morning . Thinking of Danny made me think of Bruce Swaim .Going to "Club Soda" on a whim to visit Bruce when he happened to be playing with Danny was a surprise deal.Even then, when I drank alcohol,I rarely went out on my nights off. Bruce didn't seem like the kind of guy to play a character in Danny's act with the Fender guitar. On the other hand, he did play gigs with me that weren’t all jazz. I don't know , I can't remember all the gigs but ...

Two week ago , regulate the cut off valve , the protection against spills by the companies drilling off the coast . Stop the oil coming in! British Petroleum is working toward raking in the oil, not stopping the flow.Allowing the company to take care of the problem is unacceptable. There is no reason to believe that big capitalist...

Capitalist Art Directing Culture

It has occurred to me that I used to have friends who listened to music . We all liked the "Waltz for Debby" live album from the Vanguard by Bill Evans when it came out . We were crazy about Coltrane and "Favorite Things" was nearly a pop tune to us but "Africa Brass " was just terrific . We didn't get high to listen to them or drink , we just liked it , we all liked it . Most of my friends in high school were older musicians but I did have some friends my own age and they also liked jazz...

Big Brother Riding the Gun

Posted by Bob Bruno on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, In : Politics and Religion
Trusting private enterprise to help the needy brings more corruption and the government seems to make the simplest items much more complicated. So what should we do ?We have just come through another era that will be looked back on as dirty with corruption. Last February instead of throwing billions of dollars to Wall Street and the banking industry , congress should have been re-regulating both Wall Street and US Banking the way that they were regulated after the crash of 1929 produced the g...

"Sticks" and the Color Organ Party

Posted by Bob Bruno on Saturday, November 14, 2009,

When I left the band in 1965 and ended up in Texas I had no work for a long time . I took a place on the Colorado River with two other guys . One of the guys was a drummer and professor at the U of Texas, Austin, Sticks Whipple. Sticks was also the fencing champion at the University. Usually he was a quiet kind of guy with a good sense of humor but one night he drank a bit at our "Castle" and got pretty arrogant at a party we had there. Music and Dance

Posted by Bob Bruno on Friday, October 2, 2009,

Dance music might be an ancient cause of music as well as a church , so we have two origins that have continued. Church music doesn't need the dance in fact as late as the mid- sixties I remember when the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church  decided to allow it's members to dance in social occasions and that didn't include the church .There was a semi-popular movie with Kevin Bacon playing the son of a preacher in the fictional church that brought attention to this very ide...

Addiction

I know a lot of people who have succumb to the indulgences that were once fun and seemed harmless .Smoking and drinking were perhaps seen ,from the point of a child , as how to appear adult in those years when we used to add a year to our actual age. Remember being fifteen and saying you were sixteen as well as those years before you tuned twenty one . Did you alter your drivers license? Through adulthood we faced many other temptations that , perhaps, were fun at first .Thos...

Rippling Torture

Posted by Bob Bruno on Monday, August 31, 2009,

It is astounding to me that there is still a discussion about the merits of torture . Now, they are dragging out Sheik what's his name and showing how water boarding helped to make him sing like a "Canary". They didn't mention that he also confessed to being a witch and flying around the world trade center on a broom. There is no defense for torture or the negation of history. Why was the "Spanish Inquisition" stopped ? Was it stopped ? Wasn't this a further persecution of Jews? Why were the ...

I had never seen "Madame Butterfly" though I had heard it's haunting song . Vaguely I imagined the story and heard the Mills Brothers singing "Poor Butterfly". I thought that the most popular song was Butterfly's swan song , her ending but I found that the song was one of hopeful joy at the possible return , the return of Butterfly's lover . It is a song that reminds me of the song of "Porgy" in the end of Porgy and Bess called "Oh Lawd , I'm On My Way" as he leaves his friends and North Caro...

"I Want To Talk About You"

I posted a link on Facebook to a version of Coltrane playing "I Want To Talk About You". I guess I will have to find it again to illustrate my catalyst of this idea I am writing which came from looking at that video . It was taken in Stockholm in 1962 . I don't remember if I saw it before or not . I did get a Cd from my public library recently that featured two separate performances by Trane and it well might have been one of them . The link I posted from Youtube had recording marks on it an...

Book Burning and the Public Library

Posted by Bob Bruno on Saturday, April 11, 2009,

The public library used to be a place where reference books and other material was stored . You might find obscure ideas there as well as opinion and directions on ideas one wouldn't necessarily have in you own home . Here in Maryland I was fortunate to be able to check out vinyl records from my library by the late fifties . The jazz and classical sides that I wasn't spending money on unless I thought I just had to have a copy were another luxury item taken for granted especially by me , a de...

Theatrics

I had a vision , a theatrical vision of a presentation as it might be presented . Thinking about this idea I realized that the occurrence had already happened without the theatrics . In 1972 the New York Free Jazz Festival had "Happenings" at all the major parks where there might be sixty men on the central stage playing at once . The free idea and cacophony were there but there was no direction . As a bassist in the sixties at jazz sessions with tunes that went on for days it seemed , I tho...

It is funny to me when I hear the phrase "I'm trippin'" and the people aren't trippin' at all , in fact they are really straight guys using drug codes . It is amazing to me how so much drug and jail vernacular has infiltrated the every day language of the straight folks , the hard workin' Christian folks , as if the rest of the world is just sitting on their thumbs . The politicians have played this phrase so often so, bitterly often , almost like the phrase "The silent majority" which repres...

Blogs are kind of new to me and I must admit that I don't really write too much unless I am in a bad mood or get off on a tangent on a subject that is hiding in the back of my mind . I think that this also was a lot of my inspiration as a poet or song writer in the sixties . I did write poetry in response to occurrences , most of which were not happy memories like a betrayal , loneliness , or the frustration of those times . I wrote of prejudice ,bigotry, against the current war ( Viet Nam )...

So many things are taken for granted in our modern world . The warmth of water is so nice . This wasn't always a given item in our world ,this flow of warmth .
